Phase 1: How to Create Your Player
Open the Create Menu
From the main menu, scroll to the Create tab at the top of the screen. This is your gateway to building a player exactly how you want.
Access Roster Control
Select Roster Control, then choose Create Player.
Customize Personal Information
Fill in your player’s name, age, region, birthplace, and pick an audio callout so the game announces them correctly.
Choose Positions & Handedness
Assign a primary and secondary position, plus throwing and batting hands. Make sure your choices match your intended play style.
Adjust Appearance & Gear
Here’s where your player gets personality: height, weight, body type, uniforms, batting stance, animations, and equipment.
Set Attributes
Allocate points for hitting, pitching, and fielding. Pro tip: max out attributes to 99 if you want your player to stand out in the Free Agent pool. It makes finding them later much easier.
Phase 2: Adding the Player to a Team
You can’t place your player directly onto a professional roster—you need to move them manually. Here’s how:
Export to Free Agency
Once your player is ready, save them. The game automatically puts them into the Free Agent pool.
Save Your Custom Roster
Go back to the main menu and save your updated roster under a clear, unique name. This keeps things organized.
Open Roster Control Again
Return to Create → Roster Control.
Initiate Player Movement
Select Player Movement, then navigate to the Free Agent list.
Transfer the Player
Find your custom player and trade or move them to your chosen MLB team. You might need to move a lower-tier Minor League player off the roster to make room.
Save the Roster File Again
Don’t skip this step! Saving locks your player onto their new team.
Phase 3: Loading Your Player into Franchise Mode
If you want to take your player on a full franchise run:
Start a New Franchise Mode
From the main menu, begin a new franchise.
Load Custom Roster
When prompted to select a roster, choose Load Custom Roster, then pick the file you saved in Phase 2.
Pick Your Team
Launch your franchise, and your custom player will already be on the roster—lineup, bullpen, or wherever you placed them.
Final Tips
Double-check that you’ve saved your roster at each step. Losing your work is the fastest way to frustration.
Maxing stats early can save you headaches later, especially when searching through the Free Agent list.
Experiment with positions and gear—creating your dream player is half the fun.
Follow these steps, and your custom athlete will be hitting dingers, stealing bases, or striking out batters in no time. MLB The Show 26 has never been more personal.
